Can I Use Inflatable Hot Tubs During Winter?

Yes, You are bound to love relaxing in a hot tub during the winter months. You’ll enjoy relaxing in the warm water while watching the beautiful snow-capped surroundings around your hot tub. You won’t struggle to invite friends over to your property during the holidays either, what with a hot tub being such a great crowd-pleaser.

You can use most inflatable hot tubs during 3 seasons. However, there are some inflatable hot tubs that you can use even during winter or for all 4 seasons of the year. In fact, in order to use the 3 season inflatable hot tubs, one should bring these inflatable ones indoors. This you can do where the temperature is warmer than the outdoors.

Inflatable Hot Tubs Review 2021

Intex 77-Inch PureSpa Portable Bubble Massage Spa Set

Intex 77-Inch PureSpa Portable Bubble Massage Spa SetStart your search for an inflatable hot tub by seeing what this Intex model has to offer. The 77-inch round body provides a solid design with three-ply laminated fibers around its body to create a firm shape. The tub will not sag down when a person sits on the end.

There are 120 bubble jets around the spa. The jets produce a gentle massage that every user will love to feel.

A filter cartridge is included to filter out hard water. The filtration system captures any metals or other items in the water that might make it uncomfortable. A chemical dispenser is also included for when you need extra help with fixing up the hard water in your hot tub.

The control panel on the end provides you with a convenient design for adjusting the hot tub. The panel offers a full display that includes details on the specific temperature of the hot tub. You can configure the bubble jets through that control.

Features

77-inch round body

Capacity for four people

Water capacity of 210 gallons

Temperature range of 68 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit

Pros
  • Easy to use the control panel
  • The hard water treatment works throughout the entire tub

Intex 85-Inch PureSpa Portable Bubble Massage Spa Set

Intex 85-Inch PureSpa Portable Bubble Massage Spa SetIntex also offers a larger 85-inch hot tub that holds up to 290 gallons of water. Like the smaller 77-inch model, this unit also comes with a simple control panel and an easy to access hard water filtration system. But the 85-inch model comes with 140 bubble jets versus the 120 that the smaller one offers.

The polyester fibers on this spa will not stretch even as you inflate the spa many times over. The Fiber-Tech three-ply laminated fibers provide a body that will not sag from all the weight the person’s body might add.

The pump system uses an electromagnetic field that causes minerals in the water to be agitated and shaken out of the water as it flows along. The process creates suspended crystals that are collected by the cartridge.

Features

Factors to consider

Essentially what the person is doing is mimicking one of the 3 seasons that you can use the tub in. Be careful and follow the instructions on the basis of the operating manuals of the hot tub especially in cold temperatures. The reason is when water freezes, the pump can get damaged severely. Also, the pump and the mechanics of the system can get damaged as well. Therefore, if you want to enjoy your hot tub even in winter, you need to keep it clean and to prep it well.

inflatable hot tub winter use

You should use Spa cleaners to clean the hot tub. You should also keep the water in the tub warm so that it does not freeze. Frozen water expands and damages the inflatable tub. If you follow these simple precautions, you can enjoy using the inflatable tub in winter. Of course, in addition to it, you should select a flat surface where you should place the tub. You should place it where there are no sharp objects or stones that can puncture the tub.

In fact, if you worry about the operating costs, the price in winter is almost the same as the price of operating the tub in the summertime. All you need to do is take care of the heat of the water. What one needs to remember is that these tubs have bubbling action. This results in having the water getting cold much faster. This is because the bubbles are created by taking in cold air from outside.

However, in case the weather is bad then it is better for you to close it down and thus safeguard the tub. Though some of these tubs do come with a thermal blanket, yet there are limits as to how much a thermal blanket can help. It is better to stop using it during really inclement weather. This is better than destroying your investment in the blizzard or snow storm.

Most inflatable hot tubs have instructions in the manual. These include not using the tub when the temperature falls to less than 4 degrees centigrade or less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The reason is that the pump mechanism as well as the heater freezes at temperatures below this. This could cause permanent damage to the pump. When the temperature reaches temperatures below this, there are two alternatives that the individual has. The first is that they can either deflate the tub and store it till the weather improves. The second is that they can bring it into the home. This is where the temperature is greater than this threshold temperature.

Information On What to Find In An Inflatable Hot Tub

Capacity

There are many things to consider when getting the best inflatable hot tub for winter plans, but the first thing to look at entails the capacity of the hot tub. In most cases, a hot tub can handle up to four or six people. But remember that the hot tub may have a tight fit added to it depending on its layout.

Size

Be aware of the size of your hot tub when you order it. The hot tub you order may be designed with a circular or square shape. Also, the tub can be around 70 to 90 inches in size in most cases. The tub can also be at least 25 inches in height, thus allowing for a little more room for people to relax in.

Heater

A heater is a necessity, but you should look at how well that heater can work. You can find some heater models that heat the water in the tub to up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the hottest temperature that a person can safely soak in. But some heaters might take a while for them to work. In most cases, this may be due to the location that the heater is being used in; it is harder for the heater to work when the conditions are too cold.

Pump

The pump in your hot tub is a material that is needed for allowing water to move around. The pump will circulate heated and filtered water around your hot tub. The moving water will produce the comfortable sensation you expect to get out of the hot tub.

Filtration

The filtration in your inflatable hot tub refers to what is used to keep hard water materials, outside particles, and other items from getting into your water. The filter should be designed to collect more particles while also being easy to clean out and replace as necessary. You would have to check the filter on your hot tub regularly to ensure it is working.

Control Panel

Look at the control panel that links up to your hot tub. The panel may come with a simple digital display and a series of buttons to help you adjust the intensity of the water jets, the temperature of the water, and how long the hot tub may be active for.

Jets

The jets around the hot tub are the spots that the streams of water will shoot out of. You can find some hot tubs with more than a hundred jets. Some models let you control which jets will emit water at a time through the control panel.

Can I leave my lazy paris hot tub up during the winter after disconnecting and storing the pump/heater unit.
    If so,empty or full ??

    • Jason says

No doubt you’ll be storing your Lay-Z-Spa in a garage or shed so that it’s safely out of the way for winter. If so, it’s likely that the temperature inside will get cold and a little damp. If your spa isn’t fully dried when it goes into storage then it could become the perfect breeding ground for mould and milde.

So yes you must empty it.
